Dr. Dhakre in the Parliament of Ukraine

National Secretary
for Indian Doctors of Peace & Development (IDPD), Dr. Sudhir
Dhakre delivered a speech on "Modern Challenges to Human Rights
& Freedom" on April, 14th in the Parliament of Ukraine, at Kiev.
Speaking at the opening session, Dr. Dhakre highlighted the
issue of all types of war, aggression and violence. He said that
any sort of violence infringes basic human rights. He stressed
on the need for a crusade to achieve global peace and explained
that due to the politics of aggression, most developing
countries are bound to indulge in militarization and spend huge
amounts of money in stocking destructive weapons. He said this
money should be spent on basic needs of human beings like
potable water, food, education and health.
Dr. Dhakre also pointed out the consequences of war in Iraq that
caused great disaster and appealed to other delegates from
various countries to bring uniformity be the meaning of the term
"Human Rights"
as understood in many countries.
The speaker of Ukrainian Parliament, Mr. A. Yatsenyuk, Ukrainian
Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. N. Karpachova, the
U. N. Resident Coordinator in Ukraine, Mr. F. O' Donnell and the
Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. T.
Hammerberg were among the main speakers of this session. |

Visit of Rector,
Prof. Zaporozhan
Dated: November & December 2006 |

Rector of
Odessa State Medical University, Prof. V. N. Zaporozhan and
Pro-rector, Prof. N. L. Aryayev visited Oxford during 22nd to
28th November 2006. The visit opens the possibility of student
exchange program between OSMU and Oxford University.
India Rector of Odessa State Medical University, Prof. V. N.
Zaporozhan and Pro-rector, Prof. N. L. Aryayev visited India
during 4th to 14th December 2006. They attended the banquet
organized by Embassy of Ukraine, New Delhi on occasion of
Military Day of Ukraine on 5th December 2006 and thereafter they
went to Kerala and met few alumni of OSMU. They also met eminent
scientists and doctors in India to discuss possibilities of
future joint research programs. |

Rector of Odessa State Medical University, Dr. V. N. Zaporozhan,

Pediatrics & Neonatology and Asstt. to the Rector for
International Relations, Dr. Sudhir Dhakre.
This book presents
the tasks of reforming the existing health care system and the
modern models of primary health care systems. The contents of
this book can be of practical use for general practitioners,
doctors of family medicine and the organizers of health care
system of India in further reformation and development of
national primary health care system. The book is recommended for
family doctors, obstetricians-gynecologists, neonatologists,
health care managers, residents and medical students. In market

Hiroshima Day

To commemorate the
tragic day of Hiroshima Atomic Bombing IDPD (Indian Doctors for
Peace & Development) organized a national seminar on the topic
"Yes to Peace! No to Nuclear War!" on 6th August 2006 at Agra.
The doctors and medical students from various parts of India and
Nepal actively participated in the seminar.
The principal of S.
N. Medical College, Agra, Prof. Deoki Nandan was the chief guest
and Retd. Major General Vinod Saigal, eminent journalist Mr.
Achin Vanaik, Vice-president of NFIW Amarjeet Kaur, General
Secretary of IDPD Dr. Arun Mitra were among the main guest
speakers.
On this occasion
Inter-school drawing and art competition and essay competition
on the topic "Yes to Peace! No to Nuclear War!" was also
organized. Dr. Dhakre was the organizing chairman and Dr.
Sanjeev Verma was coordinator of the programme.

Dr. Dhakre visited
Kashmir to help Earthquake victims

Dr. Sudhir Dhakre
along with Dr. Arun Mitra, the general secretary of IDPD (Indian
Doctors for Peace & Development) and other IDPD doctors visited
Kashmir to deliver the relief material for earthquake hit
victims during 18.10.05 to 20.10.05.The J&K Chapter of IDPD is
in action from very first day of earthquake and continuously
rendering their services to the quake victims. |

honoris causa’ awarded to Prof. Deoki Nandan

The Assistant
to
the Rector for International Relations in South
&
South East Asia of OSMU, Dr. Sudhir Dhakre was on official visit
to Odessa State Medical University during 14th April to 21st
April 2005. He was also accompanied by Prof. Deoki Nandan
Principal, S. N. Medical College, Agra, who was invited by the
Scientific Council of OSMU.
By the decision of
Scientific Council Dr. Deoki Nandan was conferred with the
honored degree of ‘doctor honoris causa’ of OSMU for his
valuable contribution in various fields of medical science and
public health services. The special ceremony took place to
confer this degree. The first deputy Governor of Odessa State
who was the chief guest at this occasion said “OSMU is leader of
all higher educational institutions of Ukraine in establishing
the international relations.”
On this occasion
Prof. Deoki Nandan delivered his Scientific Paper on the topic
“Social Audits for Community Action through Cluster Community
Approach” and Dr. Sudhir Dhakre gave a presentation on
“Representation of OSMU in South & South-East Asia.”

Prof. Aryayev in
India. NEOCON 2004, AGRA

The
Pro-Rector for International Relations of OSMU, Dr. Aryayev
Nicolae L., also a Professor & Head Pediatrics & Neonatology
Deptt. of OSMU, visited India during 18th - 23rd November 2004
on the invitation of S. N. Medical College, Agra to deliver a
key note address on the topic-"Perinatal Factors in SIDS" on the
occasion of VIII Annual Convention of National Neonatology Forum
(UP Chapter), NEOCON 2004 held from 19th-21st November, 2004 at
Jay Pee Palace, Agra.
During
his visit he also addressed a press conference on "Possibilities
of mutual co-operation between India and Ukraine in the field of
Health & Education", which was organized by Indo-Ukraine
Scientific Technological Educational Research Society (IUSTERS)
on 18th November 2004 at hotel "Holiday Inn", Agra. He
emphasized on the need of intensive cooperation between Ukraine
and India in the field medical research and told the media
persons that we are presently working to explore such
possibilities and meanwhile we have identified one of such field
is stem cell research. He told that during this visit he is
going to meet several Indian scientists and some officials of
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to discuss the
possibilities. On 21st November 2004 he also met the Ambassador of Ukraine in
India, His Excellency Mr. Oleh Semenets. |
